Because you shouldn't have to choose between feeling good and still being yourself.
It usually starts at the end of the day. You finally sit down, take off your shoes... and you feel it. Tired feet. Heavy legs. That all-too-familiar exhaustion from being on your feet all day.
There comes a point when you just accept it. It's part of the job.
I used to think the same. For years, I worked in hospitality: nine-hour shifts, barely sitting down, on hard floors. I'd come home with my feet aching, and the next day, it would start all over again.
I tried everything: comfortable sneakers, insoles, one brand after another. Nothing truly worked. And the few options that did help always came with the same problem: they were expensive, wore out in weeks, or had that orthopedic, bulky, odd look that I simply didn't want to wear.
Comfort or style. I felt like I had to choose.
Then, one conversation changed everything. A good friend of mine, a podiatrist, pointed out something simple yet eye-opening: most shoes are designed to squeeze your toes and limit the natural movement of your foot. That constant pressure builds up hour after hour, and it's a major cause of the tiredness, pain, and heavy feeling many of us experience daily.
Finally, it all made sense. The problem wasn't my job. It wasn't my feet. It was how almost all shoes are made.
So, we both set out to design the shoe I couldn't find: with the space and freedom a foot needs to endure long days... and looking completely normal.
That's how Upstride began. A shoe designed to adapt to your feet, relieve pressure during the longest days, and still look elegant, modern, and discreet.
Because you shouldn't have to choose between feeling good... and still being yourself.
